Charlotte Carter

Charlotte Carter is a co-founder of the Greene County Food Security Coalition and the director of the Coxsackie Area Food Pantry. Her work sits at the operational core of the Coalition: the daily, unglamorous logistics of getting nutritious food from where it is to the families who need it.

Through the Coxsackie pantry she oversees localized distribution across Coxsackie, Climax, Earlton, and New Baltimore — the cluster of river towns where Greene County’s need and its farmland sit closest together. That geography is the reason her role matters to the Coalition’s larger argument: bridging regional agricultural surplus with community need is not a slogan when it is measured in pantry shelves and pickup routes.

Within the Coalition, Charlotte represents the distribution end of the food system — the point where strategy either reaches a household or does not. Her perspective keeps the Coalition’s planning grounded in what actually moves food: cold storage, consistent supply, volunteer schedules, and the trust of the neighbors a pantry serves.

She helped build GCFSC as one of four co-founders who came from four different corners of the county’s food system. Her contribution is the assurance that the Coalition’s resilience work is anchored in a functioning, community-facing operation rather than in theory alone.
