Christopher Braccia

Christopher Braccia is a co-founder of the Greene County Food Security Coalition, where he leads its critical-infrastructure strategy. He is a national security and critical infrastructure researcher and a Fellow of USTelecom.

His role in the Coalition is to treat community food security the way the United States treats its other critical systems. Food and Agriculture is one of the nation’s designated critical infrastructure sectors — Sector 02 — yet at the community level it is still handled as charity. Christopher’s contribution is to apply the tools built for hardened systems, including risk management, resilience planning, coalition structure, and asset mapping, to the food systems of a rural county.

He leads the Coalition’s strategic resilience work in partnership with the Hudson Valley Agribusiness Development Corporation (HVADC) and the FeedHV food-rescue network, connecting local pantries and farms to a regional infrastructure of supply and logistics.

Christopher also directs the Sector 02 Fellowship in Food Systems Resilience, the Coalition’s early-career research and practice program. As director he convenes the cohort, mentors fellows, and keynotes the year-end symposium; by design he does not sit on the selection committee, preserving the program’s independence.

His doctrine gives the Coalition its animating phrase — there is no national security without food security — and its GCFSC identity as “Sector 02.” This Coalition profile focuses on that food-systems work; his broader national-security and critical-infrastructure research is published separately.
