Jonathan Gross

Jonathan Gross is a co-founder of the Greene County Food Security Coalition, president of the Mountain Top Cares Coalition, and chairman of the Greene County Board of Ethics. He brings more than thirty years of executive experience in business development and public service to the Coalition’s work.

His focus is the mountaintop — the rural, higher-elevation communities of the Catskills where distance and isolation make food access its own kind of infrastructure problem. Through Mountain Top Cares he leads at the intersection of public health, ethical governance, and the strategic distribution of resources to communities that are easy for larger systems to overlook.

Jonathan’s role as chairman of the Greene County Board of Ethics informs how he approaches the Coalition itself: transparently, with published names and clear lines of accountability. That instinct shows up in the Coalition’s governance choices, including the independence built into its Fellowship selection process.

He is also one of the clearest voices for the Coalition’s founding premise — that on the questions that actually matter, neighbors across the county agree far more than they are told. His essay for the Coalition’s research section, on building coalition work on the shared “80%,” makes the case that a divided county can still feed itself when people organize around what they hold in common.
